Man found dead after Mt. Vernon, Illinois, storm

A 72-year-old man was killed during a storm during the weekend, Jefferson County Coroner Eddie Joe Marks announced Monday. 

Police notified the coroner of the of the death at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, and Marks said when he arrived at the Jones Street home, a large tree limb had fallen across two homes there. 

Marks said it appeared the man, James Dotts, was sitting on his bed when the limb fell through the roof and landed on him. Dotts death has been ruled as accident, and Marks said he died of blunt force trauma.
