Police looking for robbery suspect in Carbondale

The Carbondale, Illinois, police department is looking for information related to an armed robbery that took place over the weekend. 

Around 10:59 p.m. on Saturday the Carbondale Police Department received a report of an armed robbery in the alley between East Jackson Street and East Oak Street. 

Police say the victim was in the alley when he was approached by someone armed with a handgun who battered the victim and stole personal property before leaving the area on foot. 

The department describes the suspect as a black man, 5 feet 11 inches tall, about 210 pounds with a muscular build, clean-shaven, and a shaved or bald head. 

The victim was treated for minor injures at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. The investigation into the incident continues.
