Second recanvass request submitted to Kentucky Secretary of State office

Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes says her office has received a written recanvass request from Richard Heath, a Republican candidate for Agriculture Commissioner.

Unofficial vote totals show that Heath lost in the primary to his opponent Ryan Quarles by 1,427 votes.

Heath’s request seeks a recanvass of all precincts in all Kentucky counties.

This is the second recanvass to be submitted to the Secretary of State office.

On Wednesday, Republican Kentucky Governor candidate James Comer officially requested a review of Kentucky’s election results after initial tallies showed he was just 83 votes behind Louisville businessman Matt Bevin.

County boards of elections will convene on May 28 at 9 recheck and recanvass the voting machines
