Lone Oak man charged with sending marijuana through the mail and stealing merchandise from a local business

A Lone Oak man was arrested for allegedly mailing marijuana and stealing from a local business.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department says on Wednesday it was contacted by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department in Key West, Florida about a package that contained more than 8 ounces of marijuana.

Detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department says an investigation revealed that 61-year-old Jeffrey Gold shipped the package.

On Thursday, detectives search Gold’s home on Lovelaceville Road and found items used in the cultivation of marijuana, evidence of marijuana trafficking, and approximately $10,000 worth of merchandise believed to have been stolen from an area business.

Detectives say that Gold had been stealing from the local business at least once a month for the past two years and that he had made over $10,000 selling the stolen merchandise. Detectives also say that Gold had been delivering his homegrown marijuana through the mail for years.

Gold was arrested and charged with theft over $10,000, trafficking marijuana over 8 ounces, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
