Purchase Parkway work to increase at Benton interchange

Work on reconstruction of the Julian M. Carroll Purchase Parkway/Kentucky 348 Exit 43 Interchange at Benton in Marshall County is expected to increase on Monday, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Work there so far has been away from traffic, but on Monday the contractor with KYTC plans to remove the median along KY 348 on the bridge over the Parkway. There will be one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers along KY 348 through the interchange at mile point 7.493, west of Benton.

According to KYTC spokesman Keith Todd, the reconstruction work will continue to escalate through the summer months, and is part of a project that has an estimated completion date of June 30, 2016.

The interchange and about a mile-long section of the parkway will be reconstructed from a toll booth cloverleaf ramp arrangement to a modern diamond interchange.
