Arrests made in string of thefts

Two people have been arrested in connection with a series of local robberies of purses and wallets investigated by the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office and the Murray Police Department.

Calloway County Sheriff Samuel C. Steger Jr. said 36-year old Dave Jackson and 23-year old Jeffie Simmons were arrested and charged with robberies in Calloway County with elderly victims.

The sheriff’s department says the two would wait for elderly people to come out of local stores and groceries, follow them home and steal their purses and wallets in their driveways.
