Fugitive from southern Illinois arrested in Paducah, Kentucky

A man wanted in southern Illinois was arrested in Paducah, Kentucky over the weekend.

The Paducah Police Department says on Sunday an officer stopped a car at South 6th and Washington streets for a traffic violation.

During a record check, the officer found out that a passenger, 25-year-old Davarr Shannon of Brookport, Illinois, was wanted in Massac County, Illinois on a warrant of obstructing a peace officer. The report also said that Shannon was “armed and dangerous.”

The officer asked Shannon to step out of the vehicle. Shannon ran away on foot, but was caught.

Officers found a loaded High Point .380-caliber handgun in Shannon’s pants. The gun had the safety off.

Shannon was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, resisting arrest, and as a fugitive from justice in another state. He was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
