Woman injured in two-car wreck in Illinois

A woman was sent to the hospital with injuries after a wreck on Illinois Route 145 in Saline County late Monday morning, according to the Illinois State Police.

Police say 56-year-old Cathy L. Werner, of Madison, Illinois, was stopped northbound on the highway preparing to turn onto Triple S. Road when a 16-year-old girl from Carrier Mills driving on the highway failed to stop. The teen’s car struck the rear of Werner’s car around 10:50 a.m. 

Werner was taken to a local hospital. Neither the 16 year old nor either of two 9-year-old passengers with her reported an injuries. police said. The juvenile driver was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
