Preliminary hearing date set for man charged in shooting at storage unit

A local man charged with killing a man for breaking into his storage unit in Reidland made a court appearance Wednesday morning.

Jeff Conrad was arrested Tuesday night for firing the shot that killed Garlon Casey Cox Monday morning at AAA Storage.

Conrad says he caught Cox and Brandon York trying to steal items from his storage unit. Conrad had a gun and fired when the two men tried to take off in their pick up truck.

Wednesday morning a judge set a preliminary hearing for June 25th.

Conrad has asked for a public defender. His bond is set at $500,000.
