Local food pantry accepting donations for community yard sale

Donations are being accepted for the 10th annual Mayfield-Graves County Needline & Food Pantry Community Yard Sale, to be held in September, the nonprofit announced Friday.

The food pantry said the sale raised about $12,000 last year to help it provide emergency food and utility assistance for local needy families.

Yard sale donations can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays at the old Heart to Hands building in the Mayfield Shopping Plaza. Donations are tax deductible. Clothing items aren’t being accepted because of space limitations.

If you have items you need help moving, you can call the First Christian Church of Mayfield at 270-247-2204 to schedule a pick-up. The food pantry said items not sold at the yard sale will be donated to the JU Kevil Center or other local charities.

The yard sale, and a bake sale, will be held Sept.26 at the old Heart to Hands location.

If you want to help with the sale, you can volunteer by calling the FCC office at (270) 247-6333.
