Construction could cause delays on road next to Mt. Vernon tire manufacturer

Culvert work is expected to cause major delays Monday on a road just south of Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

The Illinois Department of Transportation says it was be replacing a triple box culvert on IL 142 one mile southeast of Mt. Vernon.

The construction zone is close to Continental Tire and major delays are expected during shift changes at 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Drivers are urged to use an alternative route to avoid delays.
