Do you have shoeboxes or scrapbooks full of pictures stored somewhere in your house? Now, technology can turn all those pictures into digital files.

You don’t need a new scanner like you did a few years ago. All you need is your smartphone or tablet.

You take a picture of the picture.

The important thing is to hold the device and photo steady. Also don’t forget to watch for any glare.

The best way to take a photo is to prop up both the picture and the smartphone.

Using the Google photo app, every picture you take is uploaded for safe-keeping and since Google photo uses facial recognition, the photos will also be organized by person.
