What the Tech: Taking pictures of pictures

Do you have shoeboxes or scrapbooks full of pictures stored somewhere in your house? Now, technology can turn all those pictures into digital files.

You don’t need a new scanner like you did a few years ago. All you need is your smartphone or tablet.

You take a picture of the picture.

The important thing is to hold the device and photo steady. Also don’t forget to watch for any glare.

The best way to take a photo is to prop up both the picture and the smartphone.

Using the Google photo app, every picture you take is uploaded for safe-keeping and since Google photo uses facial recognition, the photos will also be organized by person.
