Building removed from former Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant
There has been more progress in the cleanup at the Paducah Department of Energy Site, formerly the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant.
The U.S. Department of Energy has completed demolition of the last of 32 inactive facilities to be removed.
Demolition included removal of 2,600 panels and 9,000 feet of pipe.
The remainder of the building was demolished to slab.
The amount of waste generated from decontamination and demolition would be enough to cover a football field that’s 15 feet deep.
