Carbondale police arrest man on gun charges

The Carbondale Police Department says officers arrested a man Wednesday on multiple gun charges following a traffic stop. 

Police say the Marion, Illinois, man, 25-year-old Labrad Petty, was stopped by officers around 12:18 a.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of East Walnut Street for an equipment violation. Officers searched the vehicle and found two guns. The police department alleges that one of the guns was stolen. 

Petty was charged with unlawful use of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm. Police say the investigation continues.
