City announces RIVERfront Concert Series July 9 performers

The city of Paducah has announced which artists will perform Thursday, July 9, at the fourth of seven concerts in this year's RIVERfront Concert Series.

Kentucky-based band The Great Gatsby Jazz Funk Odyssey will perform from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and singer-songwriter Carsie Blanton will perform from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

The Great Gatsby Jazz Funk Odyssey combines jazz-funk, jam-band, trance-funk, and fusion genres and the city says the band honors the musical creativity of the '60s and '70s. The band models its style of dress after "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Carsie Blanton is a New Orleans-based singer who Paducah Special Events Coordinator Molly Tomasallo said in Wednesday's announcement is "a real original with throwback style." Tomasallo said Blanton's music is "full of soul, jazz, sweetness, and a touch of spunk."

Tomasallo said folks can hear a bit of each performer's music before the concert at 12:15 p.m. on July 9 on WKMS's "Sound's Good."

For more information, email Tomasallo at mtomasallo@paducahky.gov, visit http://paducahky.gov, call 270-444-8508, or visit the parks office at 1400 H.C. Mathis Drive.
