Southern Illinois education offices to consolidate on Wednesday

Matt Donkin will take an oath on Wednesday to serve as regional superintendent of schools for southern Illinois' new regional office of education.

Schools in Alexander, Pulaski, and Union counties will be in a district with Jackson and Perry county schools.

Schools in Massac and Johnson counties are now under the umbrella of the Franklin and Williamson county regional office.

By consolidating the five counties into two districts, Donkin says his ability to monitor the small details will be stretched throughout the new 100 mile region.
