A Missouri Sheriff's Office is investigating a death after a body was found in a drainage ditch.

The Dunklin County Sheriff's Office says around 10:17 p.m. Wednesday night two people called saying they found a body while frogging in a drainage ditch south of Kennett.

The drainage ditch runs parallel to CR 551, commonly called Johnson Island Road.

The Sheriff and two deputies used the callers' boat and went to the area where the body was found.

They found a human torso which was taken by the Dunklin County Coroner.

An autopsy will be performed.

So far the Sheriff's Office says they have not identified the body.

An investigation is ongoing.
