Help Wanted: Your online presence could be impacting your job search
In this week's Help Wanted, a lack of online presence could be costing you not only a job, but ever getting your foot in the door.
CareerBuilder found about 35 percent of employers say they're less likely to interview candidates if they can't find out information about them online.
At least 51 percent use online search engines to research job applicants.
There are a few things you can do to increase your online presence in a way that will land you an interview or job. Employers want to see background information that specifically relates to job qualifications. They also want to see personality that will be a good fit for their company. Your site needs to convey a professional image and communication skills. Also, creativity will go a long way with employers.
You should avoid posting inappropriate pictures, talking about drug use and bad-mouthing previous employers.
