Local UPS employee charged with stealing from packages

A Paducah man was arrested for allegedly stealing medication from work.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says an investigation began with UPS investigators after several packages containing controlled substance medication was stolen from the UPS facility on Benton Road.

On Wednesday, investigators interviewed 36-year-old employee Charles Cadwell. He admitted to stealing three different packages since December of 2014.

One of the packages contained Oxycontin and the other Hydrocodone.

A bag with approximately 75 Oxycontin pill was also found on Cadwell's person. Cadwell said he stole the pills from work the week before.

Investigators also found two bottles of Tizanidine in his vehicle, which had also been stolen from the UPS facility.

Cadwell was arrested and charged with theft of a controlled substance. He was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
