Woman injured in wreck

A Paducah woman was injured in a single vehicle wreck Friday, according to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department.

The woman, 26-year-old Melissa Knight, was headed east on Lebanon Church Road, the sheriff's department says, when another vehicle backed out of a driveway in front of her as she neared the crest of a hill.

The sheriff's department says Knight told deputies she thought she might hit the other vehicle, so she swerved. Her car slipped from the right shoulder of the road. She told deputies when she brought her car back on the roadway she lost control and crossed to the opposite shoulder. Her car struck several trees.

Deputies, fire and rescue, Mercy Regional EMS, and Randy's Towing responded to the wreck around 5:49 p.m. Knight was removed from her vehical by emergency personnel and taken to a nearby hospital.
