Motorcycle crash kills one, seriously injures another

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department is investigating a motorcycle crash that seriously injured one and killed another.

Deputies were called to the 4700 block of Benton Road around 7:45 p.m. Monday night.

They say 61-year-old Don Wilkerson of Cunningham, Kentucky, and his passenger, 48-year-old Kathleen Jarboe of Symsonia, Kentucky, were riding on Benton Road when for unknown reasons the motorcycle left the right shoulder of the road.

Wilkerson couldn't get control of the motorcycle and it continued down the ditch before hitting a driveway culvert.

The motorcycle then continued over the driveway and hit a tree.

Both Wilkerson and Jarboe were thrown from the motorcycle.

Wilkerson was seriously injured and airlifted to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Jarboe was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither person was wearing a helmet.

Deputies say alcohol is suspected as being a contributing factor in the accident.
