Police investigating fatal overnight shooting in White Plains, Kentucky

Kentucky State Police are investigating a shooting in Christian County that resulted in the death of a White Plains man.

The shooting happened in the 300 block of Apex Orange Grove Road in White Plains around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

Troopers say 54-year-old Donnie Mannahan went to the home of his neighbor, 43-year-old Donald Bourland, and began pounding on the door and cursing.

Mannahan allegedly threatened to kill everyone inside the home and set it on fire.

Bourland told Mannahan not to enter the home and leave. Mannahan then broke through the front door and was shot in the chest by Bourland.

Mannahan was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

An investigation is ongoing.
