Woman dies in Saturday night southern Illinois motorcycle crash

UPDATE: Leffler plans to conduct an autopsy Monday afternoon.  He plans to release the names after the autopsy.

Franklin County, Illinois Coroner Marty Leffler tells Local 6 a woman died Saturday night in a motorcycle crash with farm equipment.

Leffler says the call came in to West Frankfort dispatch at 9:05 p.m. and the crash occurred just south of the intersection of Route 37 and Country Club Road in West Frankfort.

First responders found a man, who was the driver of the motorcycle, with multiple injuries.  He airlifted to an Evansville, Indiana hospital.  The female, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the tractor was not injured.

Illinois State Police were requested to respond and are handling the investigation, and reconstruction of the deadly crash.  Leffler plans an autopsy on the female victim.  The names of those involved are not being released until all family is notified.
