Section of Paducah’s Park Avenue to close Tuesday

A contractor for P&L Railroad plans to close a section of Park Avenue in Paducah starting Tuesday to make rail crossing upgrades, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said.

The site — at mile point 1.754 in the one-way westbound intersection with North 9th Street — is expected to close at 7 a.m. Tuesday and reopen to traffic Friday. KYTC spokesman Keith Todd said a marked detour will be in place via North 8th Street and H.C. Mathis Drive.

Todd advised that drivers who usually travel that section of Park Avenue should make alternate travel plans ahead of time while the closure is in effect.
