Three men arrested and charged with stealing cargo from Sikeston, MO trucking company

Three men were arrested Sunday night after police caught them stealing a trailer full of cargo.

The Sikeston Department of Public Safety says they received an anonymous tip that thefts may be occurring at a Sikeston area trucking company.

Surveillance was set up at the trucking company along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol on Sunday.

Around 4:00 a.m., officers saw a semi pull into the lot followed by another vehicle.

Three men got out and, in less than five minutes, they hooked the semi to a fully loaded trailer. They then left the lot.

Officers followed and pulled over both vehicles.

They arrested 51-year-old Jimmie Smith, 42-year-old Markel Eskridge, and 36-year-old Eugene Pickens. All three are from Memphis, Tennessee.

The trailer was loaded with toilet paper worth a wholesale value around $70,000. Officers also found out that the semi was stolen earlier in the evening from a Memphis, Tennessee trucking company.

All three men have been charged with theft/stealing more than $25,0000. Smith also faces a charge of tampering with a motor vehicle.

The men were all given $15,000 cash only bonds are are awaiting arraignment.

The Sikeston Department of Public Safety says they are looking into if these men could be part of any other thefts in the area.
