Couple injured in wreck
The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says a Paducah couple was taken to the hospital Saturday after an SUV landed on top of their car.
The sheriff's department says around 11:35 a.m. 35-year-old Michael Nance of Paducah, was driving a white 1998 Dodge Durango, north on Metropolis Lake Road when he looked down towards his stereo, left the roadway on the west side, and his vehicle entered a ditch. The SUV then hit a driveway culvert and went airborne before landing on the roof of a white 2007 Lincoln Town Car and coming to rest in a driveway behind it
The driver of Town Car, 75-year-old Glenn Driver, and his wife, 77-year-old Vivian Driver, had been parked in the driveway waiting for traffic to clear so they could drive south on Mayfield Metropolis Road when they were stuck.
The sheriff's office says Mr. and Mrs. Driver were taken by Mercy Regional EMS to Lourdes hospital for possible injuries. Nance was not injured in the collision.
Traffic on Mayfield Metropolis Road was restricted to one lane for about an hour and a half for the investigation and clean-up of the site. The McCracken County Sheriffs Department was assisted at the scene by Mercy Regional EMS and the West McCracken Fire Department.
