Metropolis boy hit by SUV in Paducah
A 13-year-old Metropolis boy was hit by a SUV when he tried to cross Jackson Street in front of an oncoming vehicle Monday afternoon, according to Paducah police.
The Paducah Police Department says the driver, 46-year-old Aaron Littleton of Paducah, told officers he was headed east on Jackson Street when the boy stepped in front of his vehicle. Traffic was stopped in the lane next to Littleton, and he said he hit the brakes to try to miss the boy, but couldn't.
Police say witnesses confirmed that the boy, Brandon Wharton, crossed in front of the SUV. The teen was taken by ambulance to Baptist Health Paducah for injuries police say were not life threatening.
