Woman accused of making a false report to police jailed

A woman ended up in jail in McCracken County after police say she falsely reported an armed robbery.

Paducah police say 28-year-old Amanda Leach called law enforcement at 1:49 p.m. Wednesday and reported she'd been robbed.

Leach claimed to have gone to the home of Antonio Doral Smith on Caldwell Street to buy a TV, and that he robbed her at gunpoint instead.

Smith was arrested, but he told police Leach had driven him to buy her marijuana. He said when he was unsuccessful they were separated, and he went back to the apartment.

Police say Leach called them because she thought Smith had stolen her money.

While searching Smith's home, detectives say they found a small amount of marijuana. He was charged with possession and released. Leach was charged with falsely reporting an incident and jailed in McCracken County Regional Jail.
