Overnight closure on Kentucky Avenue Friday

A six-block section of Paducah's Kentucky Avenue will be closed Friday night for the installation of drain boxes, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

KYTC spokesman Keith Todd said the street will be closed to all traffic from Walter Jetton Boulevard to 16th Street beginning at 5:30 p.m. The intersection with 16th Street will close as well, so no cross traffic will be allowed through the intersection after about 6 p.m.

Todd said the work requires trenching across the one open lane of Kentucky Avenue in the area to be closed. The single one-way lane westbound along the work zone should reopen to traffic around 6 a.m. on Saturday.

One lane traffic running westbound along Kentucky Avenue will stay open from 21st Street to the end of the project area at 24th Street into Saturday.
