Three minors charged with armed robbery

Three minors were taken into custody Wednesday on charges related to an armed robbery at the Moto Mart in Murphysboro, Illinois, early Wednesday morning, according to the Jackson County State's Attorney's Office.

The state's attorney said the attendant was robbed at knife point by one of the juveniles after the other two had helped case the store and plan the robbery. Each of the three were arrested Wednesday night and charged with armed robbery of the attendant.

The minors have been detained pending a formal detention hearing scheduled for Friday morning in Jackson County Circuit Court. Under Illinois law, all juvenile hearings are closed to the public.

The three minors have been in custody at a juvenile detention center since Wednesday night. The cases were investigated by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Murphysboro Police Department. Assistant State’s Attorney Neil Holley is handling the prosecution.
