Local restaurants help police department obtain new K9

The Metropolis Police Department was able to get a new K9 dog thanks to two local restaurants.

The Huddle House and Quiznos in Massac County donated a portion of all sales made in June to the police department's K9 program.

The two restaurants were able to raise $1,665 which went to help purchase Jocobo, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois.

Jocobo is a full service police dog. He is trained in Narcotics Detection, Search and Rescue, and Tracking.

Jocobo's handler is Tim Davis, a 13 year veteran at the police department.

Chief Harry Masse was appreciative of the donation saying it was, "… the largest, single-donation the K9 unit has received so far."
