Hickman County Jail closing

The Hickman County Jail is closing.

The fiscal court decided Wednesday morning to close the jail.

County Judge Executive Kenny Wilson went immediately to the jail to let the seven employees know.

Employees are packing up right now.

Wilson says the jail will no longer house inmates, but the county will continue to operate the dispatch center out of the building.

Fulton County Detention Center vans are at the jail waiting to transport inmates to the Fulton County jail.

Amanda Roberts is working on finding out why the jail is closing, how employees will be impacted, and how many inmates are being transferred to Fulton County.
