Man injured, charged in McCracken County wreck

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says a man was charged with driving under the influence and taken to a local hospital after crashing a truck Friday night.

Deputies were notified around 7:30 p.m. of a possible drunk driver who drove off the roadway into an individual's yard. They got multiple calls from people in the area of 4000 Kelly Road, and the sheriff's department says the callers said they saw a white Ford pickup truck driving all over the road and into several yards.

Just before Sheriff Jon Hayden arrived at the scene, he got a call reporting that a man left the area where the truck wrecked and was walking towards U.S. 60.

The sheriff's department says Hayden saw a man, James Burlingame, walking across the parking lot of the Dollar General there with facial injuries. Hayden took Burlingame back to the scene for further investigation.

The sheriff's department says Burlingame stated he'd consumed alcohol and was trying to drive to the Dollar General. Burlingame was taken to Lourdes hospital for minor injuries and cited to court. He was charged with three counts of criminal mischief for the damage to each yard.
