Purchase Parkway traffic backed up at Mayfield

UPDATE: KYTC spokesman Keith Todd says personnel at the site say the man-lift did not hit a power line, but what appears to be an AT&T communication cable that crosses the roadway near Graves County High School.

Southbound traffic is flowing again.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says southbound traffic is backed up on the Purchase Parkway at Mayfield in Graves County.

KYTC spokesman Keith Todd says a contractor reports that a man-lift came into contact with power lines along the parkway between Exit 23 for U.S. 45 and Exit 25 for Kentucky 121. The scene is near Graves County High School along the parkway. The incident may have caused a localized power outage as well.

Emergency agencies are at the site, and no injuries are reported at this time.

Todd says a detour has been established: Purchase Parkway southbound traffic is being routed off to U.S. 45, then south on U.S. 45 to take Kentucky 121 North to reconnect with the Parkway.

Estimated duration is two hours.
