High school put on lock down after suspicious person was seen near campus

The Poplar Bluff Senior High School was put on lock down Tuesday morning after a suspicious person was seen near the campus.

Poplar Bluff police officers were sent to the school just after 8:00 a.m.

A staff member at the school said they saw a white man dressed in black running away from campus across Business Highway 67 at Harper Street.

The suspicious person may have been carrying a weapon.

The police department says at this time there have been no reports of any violence or threats of violence.

More officers have been assigned to the district to help provide extra security.

The school went on lock down out of abundance of caution.

An investigation is ongoing.
