Two charged with credit card theft in Paducah

Two McCracken County men have been charged with fraudulently using the credit card of an elderly Paducah woman, police said.

Police say 25-year-old Eric Jeffers entered the woman’s home on South 21st street on Aug. 9, claiming he wanted to buy the house. He is accused of stealing to woman’s purse, which held cash, a credit card and her wedding ring, while there.

Jeffers, along with 42-year-old Jerald Burton, is accused of using the credit card to order Nike shoes valued at more than $500 and more than $40-worth of food from a refrigerated vending machine at their workplace.

Police say Jeffers and Burton were arrested Wednesday and jailed in the McCracken County Regional Jail. Jeffers was charged with felony theft by unlawful taking and fraudulent use of a credit card. Burton was charged with fraudulent use of a credit card.
