Burglary suspect found

UPDATE  3:53 p.m.: The sheriff’s department says Weatherford has been captured.


UPDATE 2:36 p.m.: The Massac County Sheriff’s Office says the man’s name is Tawan Weatherford. He is 26 years old, and deputies say he’s wanted out of Logan County for second degree burglary.


The Massac County Sheriff’s Office, Metropolis Police Department, and Illinois State Police are looking for a man in the area of Motel 6 near I-24 and US 45.

Massac County Sheriff Ted Holder says around 10:30 a.m. Paducah Police asked for help locating a burglary and robbery suspect.

Officers went to the Motel 6 and saw a man jump out of a second floor window.

The man then ran behind the motel into the Ft. Massac State Park area.

Officers are looking for the suspect on foot, by ATV, and in the air.

The suspect is approximately six feet tall and 180 pounds. He may be shirtless.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who sees him should call 911.
