I-24 crash shuts down east bound lane
McCracken County deputies had to detour traffic around a crash on I-24 late Saturday night. They were called to the east bound lanes near mile marker 10 for a report of a crash with injuries involving a semi and an SUV.
Deputies says Valeriy Degtyaryov of Palm Coast, Florida was driving east bound in his company’s 2008 Volvo semi when he began moving into the slow lane, hitting a Nissan SUV driven by Makala Arterburn of Paducah.
Arterburn’s SUV spun out, causing it to hit the cable barrier that separates the east and west bound lanes.
She was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. One east bound lane was shut down for about an hour for the investigation and clean up.
Traffic is moving normally now.
