Eastbound I-24 back open near Kuttawa, Ky

UPDATE: All lanes are back open.


ORIGINAL POST: Eastbound Interstate 24 traffic is being diverted near Kuttawa, Kentucky due to multiple semi crashes.

Keith Todd with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says a semi crashed in the median near mile marker 42.

As emergency crews were arriving, another semi crashed into the median.

Eastbound traffic is being diverted off at exit 40 onto US 62.

Drivers can then use US 62 and KY 93 South to get back onto I-24 at exit 45.

Westbound traffic is open but has been reduced to one lane.

It is possible that all lanes may be have to blocked so that the two semis can be removed.

Clean-up is expected to take 4 to 6 hours.

Kentucky State Police are investigating the crashes.
