S. 3rd Street intersection closed for gas line repair

UPDATE: Local 6 has received word that the site has been reopened to traffic.

KYTC spokesman Keith Todd says an Atmos Energy crew was able to isolate the leak, allowing the roadway to reopen.

Todd says Atmos plans to go back to the site at a later date to make permanent repairs.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the Interstate 24 Downtown Business Loop/US 60-Business/South 3rd Street in Paducah is closed near the intersection with Husbands Street due to a gas leak.

That intersection is in about the 1100 block of  South 3rd Street.

KYTC spokesman Keith Todd says traffic will be blocked in both directions so crews can repair the gas line. The roadway is expected to remain closed overnight, and possibly through the day Thursday.

Todd says there will be no marked detour, but drivers should consider Broad Street and South 6th Street as an alternate route into and out of downtown Paducah from the southside area.
