Mississippi County woman arrested and charged with abusing young child

A Wyatt, Missouri woman has been arrested and charged with abusing a young child.

The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department says the investigation began Wednesday when a deputy was sent to a Wyatt home on reports of child abuse.

An investigation found probable cause that 50-year-old Eddie Mae Washington had repeatedly hit a young child with an extension cord.

There was torn flesh and bruising across the child’s back.

Washington was arrested and charged with abuse of a child.

She was taken to the Mississippi County Detention Center with bond set at $25,000.
