Child dies from injuries after being in car accident

A child passed away from her injuries after being in a car accident Tuesday evening.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says the accident was on the Purchase Parkway at mile marker 46. That is near the U.S. 68 exit to Draffenville.

Deputies say the driver, 20-year-old Devon Collins of Benton, left the side of the road, over corrected, and lost control. The car flipped several times and came to rest upside-down in the median.

Five-year-old Jaiden Morris of Benton was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She later died from her injuries.

Collins and another infant passenger were taken to Marshall County Hospital for their injuries. Their condition is unknown at this time.
