Interim chancellor chosen for SIU

The Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees have picked an interim chancellor for SIU-Carbondale.

Dr. Brad Colwell was recommended by President Randy Dunn and approved by the board on Thursday.

He is the dean of the College of Education and Human Development at Bowling Green State University and former assistant dean of the College of Education and Human Development at SIU-Carbondale.

Colwell will begin serving as interim chancellor on October 1st.

He will replace Dunn who has been serving as acting chancellor since the November 2014 death of Interim Chancellor Paul Sarvela.

The university says a national search did not find a permanent replacement.

Colwell has agreed to act as interim chancellor for up to two years while the school starts a new search.
