Burger chain hosting fundraiser for trooper’s family

Back Yard Burgers will hold a fundraiser at locations in our area for the family of State Trooper Cameron Ponder on Thursday, according to Kentucky State Police.

Ponder’s funeral was held Friday, Sept. 18, after he was killed in the line of duty on Sunday, Sept.13. KSP says a portion of sales on Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Back Yard Burgers locations in Lone Oak in Paducah and in Murray will be given to Ponder’s family. 

The fundraiser will be held form 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. 

KSP spokesman Jay Thomas said KSP has also set up a memorial scholarship fund at Fifth Third Bank in Eddyville in the trooper’s memory, called the Trooper Joseph Cameron Ponder Memorial Scholarship Fund.
