Temporary repair to reopen road closed due to washout

Temporary repairs will be made to reopen a road that was closed due to a washout.

On July 28, flash flooding washed-out part of KY 276/Blackhawk Road in Caldwell County.

61-year-old Nancy Hyde Fox was killed when the floodwaters collapsed a culvert and carried her car downstream.

The road has been closed since as engineers work on a permanent repair.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says they are now going to put in a temporary culvert at the site so that the road can be reopened.

Farmers had recently raised concerns about having to travel around the closed road while they work on harvest this fall.

Local residents were also concerned about driving in the winter and wanting to avoid the detour.

Engineers are hoping to have the temporary repairs done and the road back open to traffic in several weeks.
