Paducah Power to host open house

Paducah Power System says it will hold an open house next week in honor of Public Power Week: an event it says "highlights the benefits of public power."

The open house will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the PPS office at 1500 Broadway St. in Paducah.

During the open house, folks can tour PPS headquarters, ask questions about company operations and get personal assistance with customer service programs like budget billing, Operation Round-Up, online usage monitoring, bank draft and home check-ups.  PPS says professionals will also be there to help folks prepare for the winter heating season, answering questions about insulation, HVAC and home weatherization.

PPS says 15-minute tutorials will be offered throughout the evening on winterizing homes, HVAC maintenance and ways to save on electric bills.

The company says customers can also turn in their old fluorescent tubes and bulbs in exchange for two new compact fluorescent bulbs and register for a drawing for a one-time $100 bill credit.

Public Power Week is held during the first week of October each year, with 2,000 publicly owned utilities in the American Public Power Association participating.
