Department of Energy helps local charities

A special shopping trip at Sam’s Club helped three local charities.

The U.S. Department of Energy and it’s Paducah contractors are collecting food and money to restock the shelves at Martha’s Vineyard, the Salvation Army, and River City Mission.

The groups put together a list of both needed items and special treats.

Shirley Barlow of the River City Mission says they were able to put both bleach and pickles on their list.

Pickles are a luxury item the men of the mission rarely get.
