Batts to run for Whitfield’s House seat

Hickman County Attorney Jason Batts’ campaign confirms he plans to seek the Republican nomination for Kentucky’s First Congressional District.

Republican Rep. Ed Whitfield announced yesterday he won’t run for reelection. His term ends in January 2017.

Batts has previously shown interest in running for the nomination, but officially confirmed his plans Wednesday afternoon. 

Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner James Comer and Whitfield’s District Director Michael Pape have also announced they will run for the nomination.
