Man killed after being hit by tree in McCracken County

A Mississippi man was killed Thursday afternoon when a tree fell on him in McCracken County.

Sheriff’s deputies say 29-year-old Brandon Mitchell of Hattiesburg, Mississippi was struck by the tree while he and several other workers were clearing a wooded area near the Ohio River.

Investigators say the trunk of the tree broke away from the stump and hit Mitchell.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
