Public schools in five southern Illinois counties to be closed Friday

School will be closed Friday for kids in some of our Local 6 counties while educators there attend a teacher’s institute.

Donna S. Boros, Regional School Superintendent for Alexander, Jackson, Perry, Pulaski and Union counties, announced Monday that all public schools in those counties will be closed Friday, Oct.9, for the Annual Regional Teachers’ Institute.

The institute will be held at Carbondale Community High School at 1301 E. Walnut Street in Carbondale.
